Definition of Services
- Therapeutic Massage/ Deep Tissue
- Involves the manipulation of the soft tissue
structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress; and, to promote health and wellness.
- Myofascial Release Therapy
- A technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
- Visceral Release Therapy
- A manual therapy that incorporates gentle massage techniques
applied to the organs located in the abdominal and pelvic areas, helps restore proper motility and functioning of the colon and other organs.
- Relaxation Massage
- Encompasses several different methods, all aimed at reducing
stress, allostatic load--the physical impacts of stress--tensions and the employment of imagery.
- Cranial Sacral Therapy
- Is a holistic healing practice that uses very light touching to
balance the craniosacral system in the body, which includes the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area.
- Lymph Drainage
- Consists of gentle, rhythmic massaging of the skin to stimulate the
lymph nodes to open and drain. The rhythmic massage also encourages an increase of the natural circulation of the lymph through the body. The lymph system depends on peristalsis and the movement of skeletal muscles to squeeze fluid through lymph ducts and vessels.
- Hot Stone
- Works on the bases of using heated stones to penetrate the tissues at a deeper
level and alter the physiological state of those tissues. The heat works to soften and melt the tissues while the manual pressure of the therapist permits the breaking up of adhesions and fibrous scar tissue. This technique can also be employed as a relaxation tool.
- Reflexology
- Is an alternative medicine, complementary, or integrated medicine method
of treatment involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hand with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques. It is based on what reflexologists claim to be a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, such work effects a physical change to the body
- Acupressure
- Complementary medicine technique derived from acupuncture. In
acupressure physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points by the hand, elbow, or with various devices.
- Pre/Prenatal
- Using a variety of techniques to help during and after the birth of a child is
very beneficial to the mother. By utilizing relaxation and reflexology can make the labor process much more enjoyable and decrease overall pain and discomfort.
- Infant Massage
- After the infant is born touch is essential to the neuromuscular
development of the baby. The therapist educates the parents on how to administer infant massage to increase their bond with the baby.
- Hydrotherapy
- Involves the use of water (hot/cold) for pain-relief and treating illness.
Cryotherapy (ice/cold) is used to reduce acute inflammation, swelling or pain. Thermotherapy (heat) is used to alleviate muscle pain or stiffness. The use of contrast therapy (hot and cold) is also very beneficial; acting as a pumping mechanism to the blood vessels moving chemicals and waste products out of the area allowing repair to take place.
- Peripheral Neuropathies
- Nerves run deep to muscle tissues and can compress, occlude,
or damage the nerve fibers. By manually releasing the muscle tissues it takes the compression forces off of the nerve fibers, allowing proper nerve transmission and stimulation throughout the body.
- Paraffin Wax
- Parts of the body are submerged into paraffin wax; this soothes and
moisturizes the skin, opens pores, increases circulation, and promotes a sense of calm in the patient. This treatment is used for Arthritis, Bursitis, Eczema, Fibromyalgia, Fibrositis, Inflammation, Muscle Spasms, Overworked/Fatigued Muscles, Psoriasis, Scar Tissue, Stiff Joints, Tendonitis, Tennis Elbow and more…
